Hemlock is an unincorporated village in Richland Township which provides a water and sewer system, curbside trash collection, regular recycling pick-up, and other services. Hemlock has a vibrant and growing commercial area as well as healthy agricultural industry. Perhaps the most notable local business is Hemlock Semiconductor, part of Dow Corning Corporation. This large business provides a great deal of economic support to the community and also gives back through grants, sponsorships, and local projects. Hemlock is also known for its annual Sawdust Festival which takes place at Richland Township Park and includes a bake-off, car and tractor show, Chinese auction, lawn mower race, and parade. Hemlock is home to the Hemlock Public School District.
