Freeland is an active community seated along the Tittabawassee river in Saginaw County’s Tittabawassee Township. While famous for the annual Walleye Festival, there are concert series, fine arts evenings in the park, and other community wide events that foster the close-knit, family friendly atmosphere for which Freeland is known. The township operates five different parks which include walking trails along the river, sports fields and courts, halls and pavilions available for rent, and pleasant green-spaces to enjoy. The Downtown Development Authority operates the Freeland Sports Zone and leases out the MidMichigan Medical Facility to generate revenue. Freeland is home to the Freeland Community School District.
