Coleman is a historic community which grew as a result of the lumber industry and Pere Marquette railway. After over 140 years the city has grown and changed but kept it’s small-town atmosphere. Through several streetscape and city improvement projects, Coleman has also maintained it’s beauty. Residents are well served by community amenities such as BLADES skating facility, the beautiful Coleman Area Library, and the Children’s Park downtown. The Rail Trail which passes through the city is also a popular attraction. Coleman’s Veterans Memorial “United by Sacrifice”, which was featured in the Reader’s Digest, is the site of the annual United by Sacrifice concert. Another noteworthy event is the Annual Rod Bender Car Show. Coleman is home to Coleman Community Schools.
